ATTACHMENTS FOR WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH
When you want an attachment you can trust, an attachment with power and dexterity, and an attachment, that above all, has unparalleled durability, then you need to check out Powerhand, leading creators of innovative excavator attachments that stand up to the rigours of the industries where equipment works in the most arduous of situations around the world.
Based and manufactured in Dumfries in Scotland, Powerhand understands that in tough industries that work around the clock, productivity and reliability are key, and it is committed to optimise your efficiencies and minimise your operating downtime.
Behind every Powerhand product there is a story, a story of a customer searching for the perfect attachment. At Powerhand, every product in its range has evolved from working closely with customers, over many years, to create products that excel at the task in hand.
Combining innovative features with over 30 years of industry knowledge, Powerhand has created the highest quality attachments - that is why customers choose Powerhand as their machine attachment of choice.
“Only the highest grade Swedish steels are used in the manufacture of our excavator attachments. We combine investment in modern manufacturing technologies with an experienced team of engineers who take extreme pride in their work to guarantee our customers a product that is built to last,” says Powerhand Managing Director Murray Clark.
“All our products are designed and built 100% in our factory in Scotland, utilising decades of expertise and knowledge, to bring our customers the ultimate in materials handling attachments.”
So let’s take a closer look at some of the extensive Powerhand product range, the toughest attachments for the toughest of industries…
FORESTRY AND LOG HANDLING
The Powerhand range of forestry and log handling equipment attachments are designed and built to withstand the rigours of tough forestry and sawmilling and are in use, day in and day out, by forestry contractors and sawmill operators on excavators, forwarders, materials handlers and wheeled loaders.
Powerhand offer a full range of forestry timber grapples and a range of tined biomass grapples to handle forestry brash and biomass, feed vegetation chippers, clear up harvested timber sites and move oversized logs, while the Powerhand sawmill equipment range includes loader grabs for log handling and loading, large capacity timber grapples for moving timber from single logs to large log bundles and high tip buckets for moving sawdust, woodchip and bark.
GB SERIES BIOMASS GRAPPLES
The Powerhand GB Series biomass grapple, for example, for excavators from six tonnes to 14 tonnes, combines high strength with light weight and is ideal for the handling of all types of biomass including, timber, branches, scrap wood and materials for recycling. Available in 0.23m² and 0.29m² capacities with five solid 30mm Hardox tines, these grapples offer the ultimate solution to biomass handling.
HEAVY DUTY EX FORESTRY GRAPPLES
The Powerhand eX Series, meanwhile, is the ultimate heavy duty forestry biomass grapple for installation on an excavator or large crane. The design has been optimised for tasks such as feeding chippers, handling brash while clearing sites, log handling and general forestry work.
Designed for use on excavators from 13 tonnes to 25 tonnes, the eX Series is ideal for rigid excavator mounting both direct via a tilt rotator or rigid rotator assembly. Also available for swing link mounting, the grapple legs feature five solid 50mm Hardox tines to excel in this demanding application.
TERRAGRIP GRAPPLES
The Terragrip grapple is purpose built for the most fearsome of forestry tasks including stump removal and the raking of the forest floor to remove brash from sites.
Terragrip features one fixed leg which acts as a root ripper and ground rake; as well as a second moving leg, which comes in to secure loads. The geometry of the Terragrip is such that the moving leg has almost 180 degrees of movement, increasing load capacity whilst maximising visibility of the fixed leg during use.
The Powerhand Terragrip grapple can easily be configured to fit directly on to an excavator quick hitch, tilt rotator or be supplied with its own heavy duty rotation unit. They are designed to fit machines in the range of 14 tonnes to 25 tonnes.
EXCAVATOR GRAPPLE SAWS
The Powerhand Grapple Saw attachment will take your forestry operations to the next level. By adding a saw cassette to your Powerhand, you maximise your productivity while increasing the safety of your operations by removing the need for handcutters on your site.
Saw cassettes are available in 0.404" and 0.75" pitch chain for many applications and various models of each pitch allow for the perfect partnership of grapple and saw cassette for different installation types and base machine requirements.
For swinging applications, grapple saws are partnered with Indexator GV124S rotators and for rigid installations the unique Indexator XR400 SAW rotator or the worm drive slew unit from a Rototilt tiltrotator is used for positive hold applications.
RECYCLING & RAIL RANGES
Other Powerhand attachments include material handling grapples and buckets designed to work efficiently with recycling machines and to withstand the heavy and demanding workloads in the tough environments of recycling yards and recycling centres.
Powerhand also leads the way in recycling of end-of-life vehicles, helping auto recycling companies extract the maximum value from vehicles before bailing. The vehicle dismantling equipment range includes the formidable Powerhand VRS system which combines the tough Powerhand Dexterity Grapple with Powerhand Clamp legs that provide the nimblest and most agile process for the removal of valuable vehicle components.
Powerhand has also worked closely with rail infrastructure contractors to produce a tough, hard-wearing range of specialist attachments that have been used and trusted in the rail infrastructure industry for over two decades.
Going forward, Powerhand will never rest on its laurels. Comments Murray: “We are proud to never be satisfied and are constantly seeking to improve our concepts and to be at the forefront of manufacturing technology.”
