THE FUTURE OF SAFE & EFFICIENT TREE REMOVAL
Six months after entering into a partnership with Terex Green-Tec, the latest brand to join the Terex Materials Processing family, Blue Machinery, a leading provider of materials processing and handling equipment, staged a series of demonstration days to allow operators to see Green-Tec’s innovative TH3 Tree Handler in action.
Such was the success of the on-site Green-Tec TH3 VIP demo days at Codsall, a picturesque village five miles northwest of Wolverhampton in Staffordshire, extra slots had to be introduced to cope with the demand to experience the performance and capabilities of the machine.
Described as the future of safe and efficient tree removal, the Green-Tec TH3 certainly made a positive impression on those who were able to put it to the test or simply watch it in action during the event which ran over a three week period.
“It is the perfect machine for dismantling large trees on the roadside and over the top of embankments,” said one operator. “It is a great machine. It is extremely stable and is easy to use, with a very comfortable cab providing excellent visibility. All the buttons and joysticks are in the right place, and it’s got plenty of power. I can’t find fault with it.”
Those were typical of the many favourable comments from other operators who had the opportunity to try it out for themselves on a private estate which had a huge number of trees with agreed felling/thinning plans.
This cutting-edge Green-Tec TH3 tree handler designed for power and precision to make tree care easier than ever was first introduced to the UK market at the Association Of Professional Foresters (APF) show at Ragley Estate in Warwickshire in September; the annual show is the largest forestry, woodland, arboriculture, tree and timber trade show in the UK and not surprisingly the TH3 generated plenty of interest.
Benefits & features
Jamie Mairs, Business Line Director at Green-Tec, says the TH3 has many impressive benefits and features, including a Palfinger telescopic boom with a 12.8m reach, which enables operators to tackle hard-to-reach branches and treetops, and an award winning raising and tilting cabin, which is protected by polycarbonate glass. It can tilt up to 30 degrees to allow for better visibility when tree felling. It also features all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering to allow for reducing slewing radius when turning.
“Due to nature of the work it would be involved in, we also offer guarding on all key pieces, such as protection on the boom, and exhaust and air filters on top of the machine.”
With a powerful hydraulic circuit to easily handle those tough jobs, the machine was specifically designed to work with a range of attachments to facilitate tree felling, stump grinding and mulching, It comes with a factory fitted industry leading Vosch grapple saw, manufactured from high-strength Swedish alloy steel. It makes light work of safely dismantling trees and can easily handle not only timber, but also load lorries or feed a chipper.

Meanwhile, the Green-Tec tree care handler’s reduced slewing radius and compact design enables operation on busy roads and tight working spaces. Its forestry tyres, together with its all wheel steering and redesigned undercarriage, allows it to operate effectively in the most challenging forestry terrain.
The soundproofed and thermally insulated cab provides the operator with a high level of comfort, with its air-suspended seat and swinging armrests. There’s also a convenient access ladder, while a sliding door makes entering and exiting the cab easy for the operator – and because of its lightweight construction and compact design, the machine is also easy to transport from site to site.
Innovative & sustainable
This partnership between Blue Machinery and Terex Green-Tec, which in addition to tree handlers also provides a robust range of chippers, shredders, mulchers and lifting equipment, represents a significant step forward for both companies as they collaborate to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions across the UK. By combining Blue Machinery’s extensive distribution network with Terex Green-Tec’s cutting-edge technology, the companies aim to set new standards in the tree care and vegetation management sectors.
Both Blue Machinery and Terex recognise that the arboriculture industry in the UK is a market that is growing and maturing with a customer base that is demanding more professional, purpose-built mechanical solutions that allow operators to carry out the tree care and vegetation control work as safely and efficiently as possible.
