WELCOME
Happy new year and welcome to the first Awesome Earthmovers issue of 2025. For the cover of this issue we travelled to Germany to see a long reach Komatsu PC700LC-11 fitted with Komatsu’s Smart Construction 3D Guidance that has doubled production at a gravel pit.
We travelled to Texas at the end of last Summer and braved temperatures of 120 degrees Fahrenheit to bring you the story on Silver Creek Materials quarrying and recycling business where the Fort Worth based company has worked with dealer Powerscreen Texas in running a fleet of screening and grinding equipment.
We went 1800m high into the Swiss Alps to bring you the story on a Hyundai HW150A with tilt rotator installing a water main. We spoke with company owner Hansruedi Allemann who said, “It is one of three Hyundai machines we have in the fleet,” We like the brand because over the years we have been working with Hyundai we have always had a very good experience with them.
Last year we paid a visit to WEM Civil on the periphery of Sydney, Australia to see their fleet of Kobelco excavators. We interviewed Plant Manager Matt Ragg who is the third generation to work at the company that specialises in residential and industrial infrastructure. Matt emphasizes the family aspect of WEM Civil and lives by the Motto, “Work as if your mums watching you”.
2025 brings back the biggest show on Earth with Bauma taking place again in April in Munich, Germany. Rumours point to some of the biggest mining machines ever shown at the show making an appearance this time around. We might even see the equal of the 700 tonne face shovel Komatsu brought to Bauma in 2016. Awesome Earthmovers will be there to bring you all the news on new launches with video and images to accompany it.
