Punchestown, Ireland – 23rd May ‘25 – Hammer s.r.l., a global leader in hydraulic attachments and demolition solutions, is proud to unveil its latest innovation: the KSC17 Scrap Shear, a high-performance tool engineered for the demanding needs of scrap yards, recycling centres, and structural demolition sites.

Built to fit 10 to 26-ton carriers, the KSC17 is designed to deliver exceptional cutting force, faster cycle times, and superior jaw geometry, making it one of the most efficient and operator-friendly shears in its class.

“With the KSC17, we set out to solve real-world challenges operators face on the ground every day, and fill the gap in the market for excavators of about 16 tons” said Onofrio Modugno, production manager at Hammer s.r.l. “It’s not just about raw cutting power — it’s about speed, reliability, ease of maintenance, and safety. We believe the KSC17 will raise expectations across the industry” continues Eoin Treacy general manager of SME Group, one of the biggest Hammer dealers in the world.

The KSC17 has been developed with robust field feedback and extensive R&D. It features abrasion-resistant high-strength steel for extremely high cutting power, a shorter cylinder but with the same power as KSC22 cylinder, double motors for excellent rotation, and replaceable blades of indexable steel. The result is a shear that not only lasts longer but also reduces downtime and maintenance costs.

The KSC17 was tested in real-world demolition and scrap processing conditions. Operators reported cleaner cuts and less fatigue due to the shear’s responsive handling and balanced structure. It integrates seamlessly with standard excavators and is compatible with quick coupler systems.

The KSC17 Scrap Shear is now available through Hammer’s official dealer network and online platform.

Hammer is an Italian company based in the south of Italy. It guarantees a 100% Made in Italy product of the highest quality, entirely designed and manufactured in the 7 plants (an area of 50000 m²) located in the Industrial Area of Molfetta (BA). Hammer began with the design, production, and sale of small and medium-sized hydraulic breakers, in addition to the sale of multi-brand spare parts. The demolition segment is then widened with the FP series (static hydraulic crusher for secondary demolition), the FR series (rotary hydraulic crusher for primary and secondary demolition), the SB series (small monobloc breakers), the GR series (multipurpose grabs), and finally the brand new FRK and FPK series.

SME Plant Sales is a proud Hammer dealer for the Irish, British, and American markets. Since 2006, Michael O'Leary and his team have worked endlessly to build a customer base that is serviced with high-quality reliable products that offer quality as standard. They value each and every customer and want to build a relationship based on trust. They feel these qualities will make SME a team you can trust and return to time and time again.
