A PROUD HISTORY OF INNOVATION

Since 1986, Rototilt has been at the forefront of tiltrotator manufacturing, offering machine couplers, system solutions, and service to the global excavator market. The company’s commitment to innovation and engineering has helped it provide tailored solutions, enhancing flexibility and efficiency for its customers.

A Drive for Standardization

A key goal for Rototilt has always been creating a standard that allows for easier interchangeability of products and competitive sourcing. The development of Quick Couplers for excavators began in Sweden in the 1970s, evolving rapidly through the 80s and 90s. These couplers allowed operators to quickly and easily switch attachments, particularly buckets, from the comfort of the cab.

This innovation led to time and labor savings by reducing the need for additional ground workers.

The S-Standard and Its Evolution

Before the S-Standard, lack of clear guidelines resulted in poor compatibility between products from different manufacturers, causing issues for distributors, excavator owners, and work tool producers. The S-Standard was first introduced in 2000, with updates in 2006 and further revisions in 2010. Rototilt played a key role in developing the S-Type couplers, which are designed to minimize machine geometry loss. These couplers, equipped with Rototilt’s secure lock system, ensure the attachment is properly connected, alerting the operator via an in-screen display if not.

Quick Change and Open-S Standard

Rototilt’s Quick Change system adopts the Open-Sstandard, allowing operators to remain in the cab while automatically switching attachments, whether hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical. This system maximizes machine efficiency, improves operator and ground worker safety, and promotes best practices on-site. Quick Change is available on Rototilt machine couplers and tiltrotators from S45 and above, offering added versatility and safety.

The Growing Role of Open-S

The Open-S standard is gaining traction as more suppliers, including Steelwrist and SMP, adopt it. The standard enhances safety, versatility, and sourcing options for customers, allowing them to future-proof their equipment purchases and minimize unnecessary costs.
