UNVEILING THE ALL-ELECTRIC UJ473

THE LARGEST JAW CRUSHER IN ITS WHEELED RANGE

Sandvik Mobile Crushing and Screening is excited to unveil the new UJ473 wheeled jaw crusher – next generation fully electric primary crushing unit built to meet the evolving demands of modern quarrying and mining. With sustainability, efficiency, and productivity at its heart, the UJ473 is set to redefine eco efficient rock processing.

Complementing this innovation, the UJ473 offers a highly adaptable solution for both quarrying and recycling applications. Its forward-thinking design boosts operational efficiency while ensuring flexibility across a wide range of working environments.

Engineered for efficiency

Built on a robust quadruple axle bogie, the UJ473 features the proven Sandvik CJ412 jaw crusher, renowned for its reliability and heavy-duty design. This results in consistent productivity and quality performance.

Operators will benefit from the hydraulically adjustable jaw setting, level sensor over the jaw and step-less feeder control, which allow precise management of material flow and optimize production. This not only boosts throughput but also helps reduce energy consumption, supporting both cost-efficiency and sustainability goals.

With a large intake opening of 47” x 33” (1200 x 830 mm), the UJ473 is engineered to process high volumes of material with ease. Its heavy duty 20x 4 ft (1.2 x 6 m) stepped grizzly feeder provides exceptional feeding capacity and early separation, ensuring smooth material flow into the chamber while reducing unnecessary load on the crusher.

To meet the demands of different applications, the UJ473 can be configured with an integrated grizzly screen for efficient fines removal, or alternatively with an integrated mesh deck more suited for scalping screening duties, allowing material to by-pass the jaw at the grizzly aperture size and optimize production flow.

In addition, stockpiling efficiency is enhanced by a foldable natural fines conveyor, and a generous discharge height, providing versatile setup options across a wide range of job sites.

Quick setup is a core advantage of the UJ473. Six powerful hydraulic jacking legs, driven by an onboard hydraulic power pack and operated via ground level levers allow the unit to be stabilized, raised, or lowered with precision.

The feed station comprised of vibrating grizzly feeder, hopper and chassis frame is supplied with its own independent hydraulic power pack. Using the integrated jacking legs operated via plug in remote control, the feed station may be hydraulically raised and lowered to assist with the assembly/disassembly process for transportation. Thus, eliminating the need for external lifting equipment and significantly shortening on site preparation time. The hydraulically folding self-locking hopper is operated via the same remote control enabling users to fold and lock the hopper safely from the ground.

Together, these features streamline installation, enhance operator safety, and ensure the UJ473 can be fully deployed and ready for production in a fraction of the time required by conventional systems.

The 55” (1400 mm) discharge conveyor is purpose built to minimize wear and virtually eliminate spillage. By exceeding the width of the jaw outlet, it delivers a clean, controlled material flow that keeps skirting and wear components outside the high impact zone, ultimately increasing uptime and reducing maintenance costs.

Safety and Support

Other features to ensure operator safety are the ground-level controls, built-in access points, and emergency stop buttons located throughout the plant. Service platforms are located on both sides of the crusher to allow safe and stable access. Optional working lights can be added to ensure safe operating in low light conditions. The UJ473 is also telematics-ready, offering a 7-year My Fleet subscription for remote monitoring and operational insights.

Sustainability first

The UJ473 is fully electric, significantly reducing emissions and noise. All components are electrically driven for low maintenance and high uptime. It connects to external power sources, either to a generator or grid supply, and features an advanced electric drive system, including motors, starters, soft start for the crusher, and a frequency drive – all seamlessly controlled by a user-friendly UL/CE electrical control panel.

First impressions exceed expectations

Early adopters have praised the UJ473 for its impressive feed size, feed rate, and material handling capabilities. Customers appreciate the large feeder drives, optional vibrating underscreen, and automation features that prevent overfilling and blockages, resulting in higher productivity and reduced energy consumption.

One distributor who has witnessed these first hand is Miller Bradford & Risberg (MBR) in Wisconsin. “The UJ473 has exceeded all our expectations” said Lane Devereux, Product Specialist at MBR. “Features we particularly liked are the large feeder drives, which enable the plant to start under load; the vibrating underscreen; and the CJ412 jaw crusher, which carries a lot of inertia and performs exceptionally well on hard rock.”

He added, "The design and jaw automation features are outstanding. The level sensor prevents overfilling and blockages, optimizing the overall crushing process. As a result, we are able to achieve more productivity with reduced energy consumption."

Market Availability

Launching shortly to North America, Canada and Latin America, the UJ473 will be available to order through our sales network. This model is well-suited for medium to large quarry and aggregate producers who require a cost-effective solution with a reduced environmental footprint. It can be configured to suit different application needs and available with or without the vibrating underscreen.

“The UJ473 represents our commitment to delivering smart, sustainable crushing solutions. It’s not just about performance – it’s about shaping a cleaner, more efficient future for the industry” said Manny Maloney, President Sandvik Mobile Crushing and Screening.

Our Mobiles team will be at Conexpo to discuss all mobile crushing and screening requirements. Visit the Sandvik booth in the Silver Lot stand 2457.

“THE DESIGN AND JAW AUTOMATION FEATURES ARE OUTSTANDING . THE LEVEL SENSOR PREVENTS OVERFILLING AND BLOCKAGES, OPTIMIZING THE OVERALL CRUSHING PROCESS. AS A RESULT, WE ARE ABLE TO ACHIEVE MORE PRODUCTIVITY WITH REDUCED ENERGY CONSUMPTION.”
