RECYCLE REMODEL REPEAT

Sennebogen 355 E telehandler powers Germany’s waste management success

A COMPACT POWERHOUSE REVOLUTIONISING WASTE HANDLING IN SOUTHEAST GERMANY

Handling waste from four districts in Southeast Germany is no small task, but the Donau-Wald Waste Management Association (ZAW) has found a powerful partner in the Sennebogen 355 E Telehandler. Awesome Earthmovers magazine visited ZAW’s waste recycling site to see firsthand how this machine has transformed their daily operations.

A HEAVY-DUTY SOLUTION FOR WASTE MANAGEMENT

ZAW manages waste collection and disposal across the Regen, Deggendorf, Freyung-Grafenau, and Passau districts, handling everything from household paper, organic waste, and residual materials to commercial plaster and wood debris. With a modern, eco-friendly approach to waste management, ZAW processes and recycles vast amounts of material every day. To accomplish this, they rely on robust, reliable machinery - most notably, the Sennebogen 355 E Telehandler.

After five years of using the previous Sennebogen telehandler model, ZAW upgraded to the 355 E in August 2023. The decision to stick with Sennebogen was clear: the 355 E offers superior performance and versatility, making it a perfect fit for the high demands of ZAW’s operations.

“From one investment, you get a reliable addition to your fleet that helps you work with more power and efficiency...

UNMATCHED POWER AND PRECISION

With a load capacity of 5.5 tonnes, a lifting height of 8.5 meters, and an operating weight of 11.8 tonnes, the Sennebogen 355 E is built to handle the toughest tasks. Its 123 kW diesel engine, combined with powerful hydraulic pumps and a compact drive transmission, allows the telehandler to move heavy loads with speed and precision, reaching a maximum speed of 20 km/h.

Operators at ZAW spend four to five hours each day using the telehandler, and its combination of strength and agility ensures they can move large quantities of waste quickly and efficiently. The machine’s compact size and high-strength steel frame make it durable and easy to manoeuvre, even when lifting the heaviest loads. This allows ZAW to complete a wide variety of tasks with one machine, maximising efficiency and minimising downtime.

ELEVATED VIEW FOR ENHANCED EFFICIENCY

One of the standout features of the Sennebogen 355 E is its hydraulic-powered elevating cab, which can be raised to a height of 4.25 meters. This elevated position gives operators a clear view of their surroundings, including full visibility of all four wheels and a better perspective for loading trucks and moving materials across the site. The cab’s 360-degree visibility enhances safety and accuracy, particularly when handling heavy loads or operating in tight spaces.

Inside the cab, vibration damping and ergonomic controls ensure operators stay comfortable and focused throughout the workday. These features reduce fatigue, allowing ZAW’s team to maintain high productivity levels during long shifts.

Reh Werner, a seasoned operator at ZAW, shares his experience working with the telehandler: "The cab is extremely comfortable, which makes a big difference when you're spending long hours in the machine. The seat and controls are well-designed, and I don't feel worn out after a full day of operating. The vibration damping also helps make the ride smoother, which is great when you’re working for hours on end."

QUICK-SWITCH VERSATILITY

The Sennebogen 355 E Telehandler’s hydraulic quick-change system allows operators to easily switch between different attachments, such as buckets and grabs, with the push of a button. This versatility means ZAW can use the telehandler for a variety of tasks, from scooping and moving materials to loading waste into trucks.

The addition of a Z kinematics system allows the telehandler to double as a wheel loader when needed, giving ZAW even more flexibility in its operations. This multi-functionality helps the waste management team handle multiple tasks with just one machine, streamlining operations and improving efficiency.

A RELIABLE INVESTMENT FOR LONG-TERM SUCCESS

For ZAW, the Sennebogen 355 E has proven to be a reliable, versatile addition to their fleet. The machine’s combination of power, precision, and multi-functionality makes it ideal for the demands of modern waste management. As the team at ZAW continues to prioritise efficiency and environmental responsibility, the Sennebogen 355 E Telehandler will remain an essential tool in their operations, helping them handle heavy loads and complex tasks with ease.

With the Sennebogen 355 E Telehandler, ZAW is not just managing waste—they’re redefining how modern waste management can be powered by efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.
