THE SAFEST AND MOST ERGONOMIC DUMPER ON THE MARKET

Although dumpers are undeniably an effective means of transporting large quantities of materials, they also account for almost a third of all transport-related accidents on construction sites. This is mainly due to the front load that obstructs visibility when driving forward, exposing drivers to major accidents.

The frequency of incidents is particularly high on machines weighing more than 6 tonnes, where the accident rate is even more worrying because the quantity of material being transported in the skip obscures visibility as it moves.

Up until now, existing solutions offered limited two-way views or force the operator to physically manoeuvre to get the best view. To minimise this risk, Mecalac's research and development team carried out an in-depth analysis of worksites, identifying visibility, stability and manoeuvrability as major issues.

These observations were the driving force behind the creation of the Revotruck, developed from scratch to proactively address these challenges.

Already a winner of a fistful of awards, including the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards "Best of the Best" which is highest accolade in this world renowned competition, the Revotruck is the first dumper on the market to feature a rotating cab, including the cockpit.

“We are proud to have created this revolutionary dumper, which embodies our expertise and the Group's innovation, says Alexandre Marchetta, Chairman of the Mecalac Group. “In addition to its advanced technology, it provides concrete solutions to the challenges encountered in the field, illustrating our ability to understand our users and convert their needs and challenges into tangible solutions,"

Offering 360-degree visibility, the Revotruck revolutionises the way you work with a dumper, raising operator safety and comfort to a new level. The rotating cab offers optimum visibility in all directions, allowing drivers to maintain maximum concentration on their work and their environment while maintaining an ideal, comfortable position.

There are four large access points at each corner of the driver's cab, ensuring safe, effortless access regardless of the position of the operator station.

Featuring a rigid 4-wheel steering chassis inspired by hill tractors, the Revotruck offers exceptional stability, even on steep gradients. The central link between the two parts of the chassis offers up to 20° of oscillation. The two oscillating parts of the chassis follow the contours of the ground independently, ensuring stability and permanent traction on all types of terrain.

“Operators of Mecalac’s new Revotruck can now rotate the entire cab to keep their vision and focus on the job and a view of potential obstacles on the site…

The turning circle of the Revotruck is tight; in fact, the turning circle is halved compared to articulated dumpers in the same size category. Also a benefit is the option of a switchable steering mode that opens up possibilities for working with superior agility in the tightest of spaces.

With drivers at the heart of the Revotruck's design, Mecalac have made it possible to rotate the cab at the touch of a button. As a result, drivers maintain correct posture at all times and avoid back problems by eliminating working positions where the back and neck are twisted.

The machine automatically adapts its behaviour to the actual position of the cab (driving direction, speed, steering). This installed intelligence makes the Revotruck one of the safest transport solutions available on construction sites. No need to turn a heavy console, just press a button to start a revolution! Other notable features include LED working lights and wide opening twin doors.

Designed and manufactured at Mecalac’s UK production headquarters in Coventry, the Revotruck is available in 6 tonne and 9 tonne payload variants. It is powered by a Perkins 904J-E28TA engine which was selected for its compact design and outstanding power density delivering 55 kW and 380 Nm of torque, essential for engine performance requirements for this application where Mecalac’s customers expect dumpers to be used for a variety of worksite surroundings and conditions.

Those who have already operated the Mecalac Revotruck are very impressed. “Combining a revolving cabbed dumper with off-road trucking capabilities makes the transporting of material safer than ever before,” says one operator.

“Compared to other site dumpers, Revotruck is a step forward. Jump back a few years and the construction industry was relying, almost exclusively, on forward or swivel-tip ROPS units to move material around site – a design that hadn’t really changed in decades.

“What’s more, with a low centre of gravity, it feels sturdy and planted – there’s absolutely no fear of tipping over, even on tough terrain. The build quality is excellent and its class-leading skip thickness is another important box ticked.”

If you are worried how complicated the machine might be to operate, forget it! It is well designed and simple to use. You click a button to rotate the cab and click it again to return.

THE REVOLUTIONARY REVOTRUCK AT A GLANCE…

VISIBILITY: 360 DEGREE VIEW

The rotating cab offers optimum visibility in all directions, allowing drivers to maintain maximum concentration on their work and their environment while maintaining an ideal, comfortable position.

ACCESSIBILITY: THE REVOLUTION FROM ALL SIDES

The cab has four large access points at each corner of the driver's cab, ensuring safe, effortless access whatever the orientation of the cab.

MOBILITY: A REVOLUTION IN IT'S STRUCTURE

The rigid chassis - which is intrinsically safer than an articulated chassis because the support points remain constant - is complemented by four equal sized wheels. It has a switchable steering mode (2-wheel steering, 4-wheel steering, crab steering), enabling it to work with agility in confined spaces and with a turning radius halved compared with conventional articulated dumper trucks.

ERGONOMICS: ROTATION AT THE TOUCH OF A BUTTON

With drivers at the heart of the Revotruck's design, Mecalac have made it possible to rotate the cab at the touch of a button. As a result, drivers maintain correct posture at all times and avoid back problems by eliminating working positions where the back and neck are twisted.

STABILITY: THE POWER OF AGILITY

Featuring a rigid 4-wheel steering chassis inspired by hill tractors, the Revotruck offers exceptional stability. The central link between the two parts of the chassis offers up to 20° of oscillation. The two oscillating parts of the chassis follow the contours of the ground independently, ensuring stability and permanent traction on all types of terrain.
