LEADING THE WAY

LiuGong’s new dealer for Scotland and the northwest of England, Lloyd Ltd recently held a very successful ‘Dig Days’ event to promote the brand across the region where it operates a network of branches providing plant and machinery for the construction, agriculture, groundcare and materials-handling sectors.

Founded in 1964 initially as a tractor dealer and with extensive industry knowledge, Lloyd Ltd joined the LiuGong dealer network earlier in 2025 to add to its already impressive portfolio of construction machinery.

Since entering the market in 2019, LiuGong UK has grown steadily through a combination of direct sales and regional dealer partnerships, enabling the company to roll out new technologies more effectively and provide stronger local support nationwide.

“That’s only been achievable by appointing dealers like Lloyd Ltd who truly understand their local markets and customers,” said Andrew Millen, UK Dealer Development Manager, who attended the event. He added that Lloyd Ltd have been doing a great job in raising the profile of the brand over the past few months since the company joined LiuGong’s UK dealer network.

While the weather wasn’t exactly on their side at the end of November, those who made their way to the Dig Days at Brewster Brothers quarry in Livingston in Scotland came away mightily impressed at the broad range of machines on display.

“Despite the weather, the two-day showcase went very well,” said Andrew. “It was good to join the team at Lloyd Ltd whose appointment has helped us to further extend our reach across the UK.” awesomeearthmovers.com

Award winning TD-16N dozer

Over the two days, operators were able to put a number of 1.5 tonne to 40 tonne LiuGong excavators and loading shovels through their paces, including the impressive award winning LiuGong Dressta TD-16N dozer which attracted plenty of attention.

Powered by a highly efficient hydrostatic drivetrain with a fuel-efficient Cummins Stage V engine delivering 192 hp and 881Nm torque, resulting in a 305kN drawbar pull, the TD-16N dozer was honoured with a world-renowned Red Dot Design Award for its operator safety and visibility features.

Its revolutionary 4-post mid-mounted cab, with its innovative three-step access, offers a panoramic view of the jobsite with an unparalleled view of the blade, the ripper and the tracks.

Great Reviews for electric wheel loader

Visitors were also able to get up close to another star of the show, the all-electric 870HE wheel loader which comes with a T Series cab to increase visibility for the operator.

With an operating weight of 24 tonne, the machine is fitted with a 4.7 m³ bucket and features electric joystick controls.

“This all-electric machine has been getting great reviews from operators,” said Andrew Millen. “Depending on application, it can work for up to nine hours between charges. Its 423Kwh battery can be recharged in around one and a half hours with a fast charger.”

He added: “Also getting positive feedback from operators attending the event was the new 42 tonne class 942F excavator which is encouraging for us and our dealers.”

Powered by a Cummins L9 engine, it features a wider and tougher undercarriage, increased diameter boom cylinders, a bucket capacity of 2.1 m³ and a heavier counterweight for impressive lifting capabilities.

Its F-Series cab offers an excellent working environment, with its multi-functional joysticks, operator friendly and easy to use interface and a large 8-inch LCD colour screen which can be controlled via touchscreen or by a fingertip navigational control dial conveniently sited in the armrest control panel.

“AS THE WORLD MOVES MORE INTO BATTERY AND ELECTRIC MACHINES, LIUGONG IS ALREADY AHEAD OF THE GAME...

Among the many other machines available to trial at the two Dig Days was the 915F compact radius excavator, ideal for working on sites where space is tight. With an operating weight of up to 17 tonnes, this fuel-efficient machine offers operators a comfortable cab and easy to use controls.

We also saw LiuGong’s 856T loading shovel being put through its paces at the quarry. With its 360-degree surround handrails and anti-slip steps, operators can easily and safely get in and out of the cab which features joystick controls, a multi-adjustable arm rest and an air-suspension seat to provide a great working environment.

Delivering cost effective ownership

George Lloyd, Managing Director of Lloyd Ltd, said the opportunity to partner with LiuGong was an exciting one for them. He said LiuGong’s comprehensive range complemented their own current portfolio and would add machinery options to what Lloyd Ltd’s network of branches could offer.

He said their customers were always looking for machines which delivered cost-effective ownership, and that LiuGong provided not only that, but also impressive innovation.

“As the world moves more into battery and electric machines, LiuGong is already ahead of the game, so we are looking forward to working with them and being prepared for what the future holds. Our Sales, Service and Parts teams have already been impressed by LiuGong’s operations and are eager to showcase their extensive range to both current and new customers through this excellent new partnership.”

Busy following up sales leads

Scott Walker, Lloyd Ltd’s Construction Sales Specialist for Central and Northern Scotland, says the Dig Days clearly served to raise the profile of the LiuGong brand in their dealership region which covers Lancashire and Cumbria, through to Dumfries & Galloway and The Borders up to the central belt in Scotland.

“We were very happy with the event, despite the weather. LiuGong is still relatively new in this part of the world, but we see great potential going forward. At the moment we are busy following up leads from the Dig Days which attracted a number of big construction and plant hire companies and other smaller operators from the area.”

He also expressed his thanks to the team at Brewster Brothers, whose state-of-the-art recycled aggregate wash plant provided an ideal setting for the open day.

Brewster Brothers showcased their industry-leading approach to recycled aggregates and waste management services, demonstrating the capabilities of their modern facility, while welcoming visitors to learn more about sustainable materials. The event featured demonstrations of machines from LiuGong’s extensive range, set against the backdrop of Brewster Brothers’ innovative operations.
